Of Goats and Greens
This is a food-oriented blog. As it grows, I'll be fine-tuning the categories. I'm expecting a Recipe category will provide actual amounts of ingredients used to create a recipe; the Cooking category is meant to be a riff on things I've put together without measuring, or on things I've adapted from cookbooks or other websites.
As this develops I'll get these categories as useful as possible so readers can go where it most interests them. I'm personally mostly interested in things low carb, and definitely steer to a preference for Real Food. All posts will (barring emergencies) consist of things dealing with food or nutrition. Or with the of growing veggies or other forms of food, or getting my eventual farmstead up and running.
Please leave me a line!

Baked Eggs with Veggies & Goat Cheese
Eggs are one of the most complete foods out there — all the nourishment for the baby chick to be in one nice package. And most of this is in the yolk, although some good protein is obtained from egg … Continue reading
A Day (Wednesday): Breakfast
I am posting a day in my foodie life, simply because I want to lose a few more pounds, and I figure this is a good and healthy day, and I took pictures of all three meals. I gained a … Continue reading
Poached Eggs Broccolini
I’m working on a longer post involving my recent stay in Virginia, but in the interim, I should post up something or other involving food, because I’m still eating and sometimes photographing. Yesterday’s breakfast, for instance. 1 stalk broccolini (a … Continue reading
Local, Green, Sustainable, or Something: Breakfasts & Brunches
Commentary on morning visits to two sustainable-food restaurants Community Table and Green Granary The sign said: “Ct Community Table“ It was fall, and I was speeding up north on Route 202 either to go to Massachusetts, or to visit the … Continue reading
The Shad Roe Breakfast
This is the time of year, especially here in New England, where the shad run. Shad is one of the few fish sought out not for itself, but for its roe, and are they ever spectacular. Once a year I … Continue reading
Of Eggs and Eating and More (Digressions into Salt and Potatoes)
I’ve been reading, or re-reading The Best Food Writing 2008 and 2009, edited by Holly Hughes, selectively going through the essays. Many of them are very well written, and the writings cover the range of high and low brow tastes. … Continue reading
Sea Vegetable

Eggselection Protection…
I am going on a road trip tomorrow, and decided hard-cooked eggs and some raw veggies would serve for lunch. I am totally stunned by this egg that did not spew its innards all over the pot, despite the severe … Continue reading →
